Attention all gardeners and weekend botanists! If you’ve been wanting to get some great gardening lessons for free then this is for you!
Western Municipal Water District and the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Riverside County, Master Gardener 
Program have teamed up to hold three free gardening workshops in the coming months.
The workshops will be held at Western’s water efficiency garden, Landscapes Southern California Style. The garden showcases California native and climate-appropriate plants, as well as the irrigation systems and soils that improve a landscape’s water-saving ability.
The garden is located at the corner of Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway in Riverside. It’s open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshops will be presented on the second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. Also, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., master gardeners will also be at the Landscapes Southern California Style garden to answer questions from the public.
Workshops are scheduled on the following days:
* 11 a.m. Sept. 8, Growing Apple Trees in the Inland Empire, presented by Jonathan Simper-Turney, master gardener.
* 11 a.m. Oct. 13, Made in the Shade – Selection, Planting and Care of Trees for the Inland Empire presented by David Roger, member of the Inland Empire Urban Forest Council.
* 11 a.m. Nov. 10, Creating a Colorful Landscape with Native and Mediterranean Plants, presented by Katherine Botts, master gardener. The same day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the California Native Plant Society will be holding their annual native plant sale in the parking lot at the Western Municipal Garden water-conservation garden.
